Description de la plante carnivore

Drosera aliciae is a carnivorous plant native to South Africa. It forms a compact rosette of small, elongated leaves, covered in glandular hairs that secrete a sticky substance, mucilage. Its leaves can vary from green to intense red, depending on exposure to light. This plant remains relatively small, reaching about 5 to 10 cm in diameter. Drosera aliciae is prized for its simple beauty and its effectiveness in capturing small insects, making it a fascinating addition to any carnivorous plant collection.

Drosera aliciae is very easy to grow, making it ideal for beginners.

Care instructions:

Temperature: Between 15°C and 40°C, can withstand freezing temperatures down to -5°C, but only for short periods with positive temperatures during the day.
Water: For watering, I recommend that you opt for a capillary method, ensuring that you constantly maintain a water level of at least 3 cm, using rainwater, demineralized or osmosis.
Light: Full sun or near a sunny window to ensure optimal growth. If natural light is insufficient, consider using suitable artificial lighting, including LEDs.
Dormancy: Does not require a rest period in winter. However, if you choose to grow Drosera aliciae outdoors in cold weather, the plant will slow down its growth during the winter, losing some of its leaves, which can become brown and less aesthetic, giving the impression that it is dead. It will, however, start again in the spring.
I advise you to keep it in a place protected from the cold during the winter, at a temperature above 15°C.

Substrate: Choose a substrate with blond sphagnum peat moss mixed with perlite. (I recommend a mixture of 50% peat and 50% perlite.) You can also find a special substrate designed for carnivorous plants in our online shop here.
